D. LISA West creates emotive, expressive works using palette knives and bold brush strokes in oil. Born in Seattle, she grew up surrounded by her immediate and extended family, enjoying summer gardens, fruit and hazelnut trees, and trips to the ocean where they stayed in the cabin the family owned and built together. She studied at Gage Academy of Art in Seattle with the founder, Gary Faigin and works with a variety of mediums but uses traditional drawing tools and techniques on a large and small scale. D. Lisa enjoys exploring the intersection between meditation and art and shares: “I am drawn to beauty and mystery in the visual world.”
